Montreal based Vancouverite Cyrus Jordan’s debut release, “Stretch,” delivers the psychedelic soul-funk we all deserve for a refreshing 2020 and damn, does it make you groove. The creation of “Stretch,” was mostly a one-man show, with Cyrus producing, writing and playing everything except for drums, handled by Alex Bingham and sound-mixing by Jacob Schwinghammer. The track is fittingly bass-heavy, but there are so many different layers of sound interweaving and bleeding through each other, requiring several listens. Subject matter flows back and forth between summertime happiness and summertime sadness, putting listeners in that mid-August mood. With surely more to come from Cyrus, stay on the lookout.
