Retch- Still Goin’ Up

The follow up January’s excellent Richer Than The Opps, Still Goin’ Up is the new EP from New Jersey underground veteran Retch. The title is fitting for where Retch is in his career, having been in the game for almost a decade, Retch is showing no signs of slowing down. Still Goin’ Up is short and to the point with only 7 songs and running less than 20 minutes. It features Retch delivering cut throat bars over ominous production. Though this tape is extremely dark, the final song “Sun Up,” features much brighter production and is a very refreshing end to the tape. As always, a quality release from one of the most underrated in the game.

Best Tracks: Feel Me, Lie to Me, Sun Up

FKA Twigs- MAGDALENE

The elusive and mysterious British singer is back with her first full length project since 2014. This is still a very tight release with only nine songs, but the quality of this album is guaranteed to leave listeners satisfied. The album features FKA Twigs singing in her signature falsetto over massive, spacey production. These songs are hypnotic as the instrumentals evolve and build while FKA Twigs keeps listeners captivated with her beautiful and dramatic performances. The album also comes with an unexpected collaboration with Future on “holy terrain.” This song takes a very different approach than the rest of the album with fast paced trap production, a nice halfway point for an album filled with expansive sound scapes. Overall, this album is great, with FKA Twigs proving that she is one of the most talented and unique artists making music today.

Best Tracks: holy terrain, mirrored heart

Pop Smoke- Drive the Boat (leak)

This new Pop Smoke leak is an absolute BANGER. The beat slaps with the aggressive drill sound we have come to know and love Pop Smoke for. Starting with the line “Oh you feelin treeshy?” this song is very tongue in cheek and guaranteed to get your party bumping this weekend.

Flipp Dinero- How I Move (featuring Lil Baby)

Flipp Dinero of “Leave Me Alone,” fame might have another hit on his hands with this new track. Flipp Dinero switches between rapping and crooning in his unique voice over bassy production featuring very smooth flute and guitar. This is a solid banger right here, hopefully we’ll see more from Flipp Dinero soon.
