Without Warning

Without Warning – 21 Savage, Offset & Metro Boomin

The Ultimate Halloween Album of 2017

  • Ghostface Killers (ft. Travis Scott)
  • Mad Stalkers

Released on Halloween, Without Warning  is chock full of solid beats and embraces spooky sounds for the 31st of October. The title references the 1980 horror movie of the same name, and the influence can be seen everywhere.  Savage’s lines flow over John Carpenter-esque soundscapes describing material that is, at times, creepy as hell.  You might get one more weekend out of this strong effort from 21, but like Gucci Mane’s 2016 album The Return of Atlanta Santa, it is a seasonal affair.

Movie (Single) – Tom Misch

Misch quickly established himself as a fine producer of hip/hop-beat inspired soul on his EP Reverie.  Featuring Tom’s trademarked smooth guitar lines and intimate voice, his latest single, Movie was released November 2 and gives an encouraging glance into his upcoming full-length album, Geography.

1982 – Liima

Highlight: Kirby’s Dream Land

Looking for something slightly obscure this weekend? Liima’s new album 1982, released this morning, might be just what your weekend needs. The Finnish group, together with Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor produced 8 strange electronic pop tracks inspired by their past and the unknown of their future.

Intrepid (Single) – Pinegrove

Pinegrove signaled that they are showing no signs of stopping their solid indie rock climb after releasing their new single Intrepid a few days ago.  Played at their Montréal show along with other new material, Pinegrove seems to gradually be defining their sound and establishing their place as indie darlings.  Add this one to your library.
